Congratulations, cheering, well-wishes, and ten-gallon hats are in order for our very own Silas Howard & Kahlil Hudson, who EACH have feature films world-premiering at SXSW in 2012.
"Sunset Stories", which Silas co-directed with Ernesto Foronda, is an off-kilter comedy starring Monique Curnen, Sung Kang, and Joshua Leonard.
Kahlil's documentary feature, "Low & Clear", will premiere this year at BOTH SXSW and the True/False film festivals. Kahlil partnered with Tyler Hughen to produce, direct, and shoot this gorgeous film about the dissolving friendship of two world-class fly fisherman.
And a shout-out to all our friends who worked on these films, including Alex Jablonski (Editor, "Low & Clear"), Tatiana Kelly (Producer, "Sunset Stories"), and Valerie Stadler (Writer/Producer, "Sunset Stories"). So happy to see all their hard work this past year deservingly recognized.
Justin Wolske is working with Standard Quality to oversee our Producing & Platform Management offerings. Justin is a bit of a guru in understanding the changing ways in which audiences consume media, and how those behaviors should necessarily affect what and how content is produced and delivered.
Justin has over 10 years experience producing traditional and new media for companies like MTV, Fox New Media, PBS, Star TV, and BBC America. He has won awards from the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, the CINE Foundation and Elektra Records, and his on-set experience was developed on projects under NatGeo, ABC, Disney, Symantec, Starz and many others.
Silas Howard and Ben Peyser teamed up to shoot a chapter of the collaborative feature "Valencia", based on Michelle Tea's award-winning novel of the same name. Several kick-ass filmmakers, photographers, video artists, and other characters of delightfully ill repute have teamed together to make the feature, retelling one twenty-something queer girl's personal romp through the '90s. The duo shot their segment in upstate New York. The film should appear sometime in 2012/13.
"Dance Floor", Melissa Molinaro's delightfully sexy music vid, has topped one million hits on YouTube. Eli Green directed and Ben Peyser shot this video, filled with body-rockin' choreography by JaQuel Knight, who choreographed Beyonce's "Single Ladies" amongst many other commercials and music videos.
Ben Peyser (not pictured here) is Director of Photography for the new Benefit commercial for their Bella Bamba makeup. Directed by Jordan deBree.
Standard Quality recently completed a spot for Pepsi MAX. The spot features birds and Rolfe. Rolfe is impatient and often quite naughty. Directed by Ben Peyser & Milena Pastreich. Stay tuned.
SQ made a long form spot to showcase the new Resistance Runner in all Skechers stores globally. Skechers enjoyed the work so much the video was made into both a :30 and :15 spot for U.S. television. Dir: Silas Howard & Ben Peyser.
Brainstorm, the web series Standard Quality created and produced for Fox Mobile, Altoids and the Omelet agency, was nominated for a Streamy Award for outstanding web series. Silas and Ben say it is an honor just to be nominated, but word on the street says don't believe their pitiful attempts at humility.
Kahlil Hudson shot the documentary feature Kumare, which will have its World Premiere at this year's SXSW Film Festival. The film follows a man who impersonates a wise Indian Guru and builds a following in Arizona.
Kahlil Hudson has joined the Standard Quality team to head up our new Denver office. Kahlil is a talented producer, director, and cinematographer whose recent clients include: Showtime, Discovery, History Channel, MTV, Telemundo, Interscope Records, MSNBC, Amex and PBS. His feature documentary on fly fishing, Low & Clear, will be released later in 2011. Kahlil received his MFA in Film from UCLA.
Eli Green recently directed a music video that Ben Peyser shot for the lovely up-and-comer Melissa Molinaro. The video is currently in post-production. The sexy bodies are currently in the steam room.
